How to become a polyglot

Nowadays owing to globalization of economy raises the necessity of intercultural communication. This need raises in turn the necessity of learning foreign languages. Many people nowadays try hard to find a suitable and rapid method of learning a foreign language and at last they understand that it is not an easy task to find the right method for studies. The majority of available courses deceive people, promising them proficiency in a language after several lessons. Many people don't realize that it is absolutely impossible and fall for this advertisement. To teach a foreign language doesn't mean to sell knowledge. To teach a language means to give the needed guidance and methods of learning. If you attend lessons but don't fulfil your home task, you are doomed to failure. You will spend your time and money for nothing and it will be your own fault exclusively.

If you want to learn a foreign language, you have to do a huge amount of exercises honestly and not to expect anybody to give this knowledge off-the-shelf. The main problem here lies in lack of time and desire to apply much effort to reach your goal. Everybody look for easy ways. But there can be no easy ways in learning languages.

The fastest way is to go to the country, which language you are going to study and practice there. Communication with native speakers will teach you to understand their tongue very quickly and with the lapse of time you will be able to speak this language yourself. If have already attained the intermediate level of proficiency, you may increase the speed of your studies by means of reading books, newspapers and magazines in order to master the written style of this language and listen to radio programs to get comprehensive and communicative skills, to acquire speech patterns needed for oral speech and gradually you will discover that your level of foreign language mastery allows to express your thoughts easily and quickly.

If you want to become a polyglot, that is to master several foreign languages, you should learn three languages belonging to different language families simultaneously. Later you can start learning other three languages, each belonging to one of these three language families and so on. You will see that the process of learning each new language becomes increasingly easier and more interesting. The fact that learning becomes easier day by day will encourage you and make you believe in yourself. As you see, you don't need to be a person of supernatural abilities to learn many foreign languages. Just try and make sure that it is possible.
