What does the level of IQ mean?

Today the majority of people, who is acquainted with job search, know perfectly what IQ means. In their consciousness it is closely connected with a lot of negative emotions, which people experience while to trying to get a job. People are usually embarrassed when chiefs and bosses don't verify their professional competence, mental furniture and experience but give them tasks to draw a cube, a circle, a parallelepiped, etc. Job applicants usually experience surprise and disappointment. They feel humiliated by the fact that their professional skills are left in the cold. The very procedure of interview reminds them a visit to a psychiatrist. The fact that they don't know how these numerous cubes and circles can prove their competence makes them feel frustrated and underestimated.

What can IQ test show in reality? This test doesn't show real intellectual abilities of a person, that is why it is not reliable. It characterizes only the ability of a person to perform a certain set of tasks. It means that one can train these abilities and reach high level of IQ. But having trained these skills doesn't mean automatically that a person has increased his/her intellectual potential. Today it is thought that IQ depends on hereditary factors and it can by increased by means of special training exercises. It turned out that the main source of success is not the intelligence itself but persistence and motivation of a person. Individuality, ambition and temperament are more valuable qualities to be a success but in different situations, when a person needs to make a serious decision, high intellectual level can be rather helpful.

If, for example, Einstein was asked to test his intellectual level, he would fail the test. It is obvious. Does it mean that Einstein wasn't clever enough or it means that something is wrong with IQ tests? Einstein's reputation is unquestionable, but as for IQ tests, their accuracy is doubtful. IQ tests check the ability of a person to acquire and process new information and experience but they can't verify the accumulated intellectual potential of a person and his/her know-how. But isn't it the main set of qualities, which should be appreciated first of all? It turns out that experience, skills and theoretical knowledge appear to be not very important for an employer. Fortunately IQ tests boom is going down and employers begin to use other techniques to verify vocational aptitude of job-seekers. We wish you success in finding a well-paid and challenging job.
